The New Kid on the Block
When Marli, our Yellow Lab passed away in October 2022, she left a large hole in our family, and the need to find that perfect new pup again. It took a little over a year, but Piper joined our happy family in January. Read about Piper here.
Our Search for the Perfect RV
Several years ago, we renewed our search for the perfect RV. Naturally, the perfect RV depends on what it is expected to do for its owners; what is perfect for us might be quite different from what is perfect for you. In our case, we had an itch to shift from our compact 28' adventure-oriented 5th wheel to something more comfortable for extended travels. As usual, there are lessons to be learned. . . assuming that one is willing to learn them.
Our criteria were simple: a quality built coach with 2 street-side slides, washer/dryer, generator and not more than 35' actual length. For those unfamiliar with RV model nomenclature, most RV manufacturers give their RVs model names that imply the length of the RV. However, the number in the model name is misleading because it is almost always several feet less than the actual length. In any case, the dilemma we faced was that most RVs that met our criteria were not only 37' to 40' long, they also had 3-4 slides, sometimes 5.
Mr. Bryce joins our team
With a registered name like Majestic Truly a Treasure, Bryce
had a lot to live up to.

After enduring two Smooth Collies from hell the year before, we bit the bullet and went back to a Rough Collie. Thanks to a tip from a breeder in Oregon recommending his sister, we discovered Bryce.
He is truly a treasure, andf a big boy at 88#.
Like most other large breeds, Bryce is calmer than his smaller cousins. Much calmer! Naturally, he enjoyed wandering about the neighborhood for a few months as he learned where his new home was. He still likes to wander over to a couple of neighbor's houses given the chance, but he comes running back home when he hears his name called out.
Yes, that coat needs some serious brushing every 2-3 days, but he enjoys it. Well, mostly. He's not fond of getting his undercarriage brushed.

It took nearly a year, but I finally made Master with a new Sig P320
X-Five Legion, shooting an IDPA Classifier in 18.18 seconds, clean. It's
been my M.O. to change guns/divisions every year, so after getting bumped to
Master with my STI Sentry at the Washington Stage Match in August 2019, I
bought a new P320 and set it up for Carry Optics. One sweet pistol -
for a plastic gun. No matter how heavy they make it, it's still doesn't have

We celebrated our 25th Wedding Anniversary with an adventurous RV trip to
the Arctic. Our goal was to drive all of the most northern roads in
North America. If that wasn't enough, the plan included towing our 30'
Arctic Fox 29V travel trailer the entire way. Nearly 3,000 miles of
the 9,000 mile trip was on unpaved roads. It was intended to be an
adventure of a lifetime and it was!
We can't wait to go back!! Follow

Be a Part of the Solution
Do something good for the planet. I was
talking with a relative recently. She was upset the Trump
administration was easing the EPA rules on coal production. Turns out
the truth was the EPA under the Obama administration had illegally &
secretly tweaked the formula used to determine the cost/benefit ratio of the
new EPA regulations so that the new regulations could be significantly more
stringent than would be allowed by law otherwise. Of course, the
legacy media didn't provide that side of the story. That didn't matter
to my relative - she didn't care about what was legal or not. All she
cared about was that the court ruled in Trump's favor on coal production,
and coal is dirty. Sheesh lady,if you really care that much about the
environment get off your arse and actually do something physical to help the
environment.
Get dirty and get natural. Sitting in your house surrounded by a yard full
of "exotic" plants instead of native plants, and whining about what others
are doing doesn't get anything done in your neighborhood.
On the other hand, we spent 15 years heavily involved in restoring salmon habitat on the Olympic Peninsula. A number of years doing boots on the ground surveying and testing the existing habitat, followed by years of serving on the boards that control the flow of funds to the organizations that do the habitat restoration projects.
Sadly, that turned out to be a

Very interesting new development in the saga of Joe D'Amico, Fort Discovery, Jefferson County and the latest consequences for JCSA. While the consequences for JCSA, the club, appear dire, the consequences for the club's members is completely unknown. Considering that, I find the JCSA's spokesman's position rather offensive and certainly not conducive to developing a good outcome for our members. →
