Propane furnace efficiency & LP consumption:
Currently there are no standards set for the RV Industry for furnace efficiency
ratings. Suburban manufactures a wide range of models for RV's with some higher
than others but can average between 75 and 80% efficiency depending on the
model. These are most efficient with regard to the actual physical sizes as
space premium consideration in development of RV's and equipment. Propane (LP
Gas) burn rate depends on the size orifice and BTU of the furnace which is
calculated by this factor x times the pounds per hour. LP gas weighs 4.2 lbs per
gallon. For example a 30,000 BTU furnace will burn 1.39 lbs of LP per hour.
